Meet Dr. Elizabeth Buck

Assistant Dean for Nursing and Director of Online Nursing Programs

She knows firsthand how a nursing career can blossom beyond your nursing diploma. Her 40-year career began with a diploma, and now she leads our faculty as director of online nursing programs.

Dr. Buck’s nursing career began with 23 years of service in the U.S. Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps, after which she retired as a lieutenant colonel. She pursued multiple degrees while serving as an officer, beginning with a bachelor’s in psychology, but she soon pivoted to pursue a strong core of nursing expertise as she earned her BSN, MSN, and PhD in Nursing.

Her teaching career began in 1985, and she joined Maryville University in 2007, where she has served as assistant dean for nursing and director of online nursing programs. She’s active in professional nursing organizations and uses her experience and expertise to help evaluate the nursing faculty mentorship you can receive at Maryville.

RN to BSN Online Curriculum

Coursework for Maryville’s RN to BSN online degree is designed to help associate- and diploma-holding registered nurses advance by obtaining a bachelor’s in nursing degree. It requires the completion of 89 credit hours: general education (64 credits) and nursing courses (25 credits). Nurses with associate degrees can apply approved transfer credits to satisfy some or all general education courses.

Designed to help you transition into professional nursing, our curriculum helps you prepare to provide advanced care to individuals, families, and your community. Courses connect you to expert faculty to collaborate on research and complete a public health capstone project. Graduates can emerge with expanded skills to assess patient health, present their research, and confidently direct nursing teams.
